On Sunday 23rd November 2014 Listry/Keel U-13s became joint winners of the East Kerry league. In our second and final game the U-13s played a thrilling draw against Kilcummin. This was the final game of the juvenile season and it was played in glorious sunshine at Allman park.
This group of players only came together for the first time in November. They trained on 3 occasions and had 19 players attend each session. The attitude to training was excellent and it was great to see guys training even though they knew they couldn’t make a game because of a family commitment.
The game started at a lively pace and Listry/Keel were very tight in the defence and our impressive half back line attacked at every opportunity. We dropped a few shots short and the Kilcummin keeper made some great saves.listry/Keel were ahead at the break 7 to 6. On the restart Kilcummin had a purple patch and scored 3 goals.However,Listry/Keel have great battling qualities and continued to fight back and got the draw they deserved with a great goal at the end.The final score was Listry/Keel 2-13 Kilcummin 3-10.This was a tremendous game and great credit is due to both teams. Referee Jimmy O’Shea from Glenflesk had a fine game and was full of praise for both clubs. resized_20141123_120118
