U-16 Listry/Keel v Cordal/Scart
Listry/Keel played Cordal/Scartaglen in round 3 of the East-Kerry league on Mon.8thApril 2013.Both teams played their hearts out and served up an entertaining game with an outstanding finish.
Listry/Keel played against the breeze in the first half and had to withstand a great deal of pressure.Some excellent defending from Johnathan Sayers at corner back and Luke Flynn at full back(last years goalie)kept the Cor/Scart boys at bay and the 6 backs along with goalkeeper Mike O’Leary limited their opponents to just 1 point.Up front our 6 forwards were in scoring mood and worked the ball very well into scoring positions and rattled over 5 excellent points.Half-time score L/K 0-5 S/C 0-1.
The second half Cor/Sca began the brighter and caught L/K backs napping,creeping in for a goal and leaving 1 point between the sides.
Lis/K replied with 2 more points opening up a 3 point lead only for Sca/Cor. to hit back with another goal leaving the sides all square with 10 min.to go.Peadar Keane pointed for Lis/Keel from a free and Dara Lehane after some great work from Aaron Murphy put Listry 2 up going into the closing stages.Cor/Scart hit back with 3 points(2 frees) in 5 mins. to leave them a point up with 2min. remaining.However Listry/Keel never gave up and scored 2 late late points from the boot of William Hickey and that was that.It was an outstanding team performance from goalkeeper right up to the subs bench and it was really great to see the subs on the night urging their team-mates on to the very end.Keep up the good work lads.Final score Listry/Keel 0-11 Cordal/Scartaglen 2-4.
