After a two week break our under 12 team were back in action again last Sunday evening the 17th of June in Scartaglen. With just 12 players and having previously been  beaten by Scartaglen in phase 1 of the co.league it looked like a tough game was in store.

The first half was a tight affair with Scartaglen really coming at Listry and  great defending by Seamus Giles,Jordan O’Meara,Ronan Buchanan,Paudie Horgan,  Joseph Courtney and goalkeeper Micheal Buckley made  Scart. work hard for every score.Listry midfield of Mairead Lehane and Gearoid Murphy made sure the Listry forwards got a good supply of ball in the first half as well. The score at half-time after a pulsating first half was Scart. 2-6 Listry 3-2,a one point lead for Scartaglen. Playing up the hill and against the wind and rain the second half was going to be a test.

Listry didn’t have a game for 2 weeks but, they didn’t take the time off.Sean Walsh and Bernard Murphy used the time to improve the fitness of the panel and Eoin Blake,Jack Walsh and Sarah O’Shea really helped to make the training games more competitive.

In the second half the extra training and superior fitness of Listry really showed. Our forwards Barry Keane,Mark O’Brien,Killian Broderick and Eoin O’Donnell combined to get some fantastic scores. Our midfield took control, our backs were solid and Micheal made a great save when he had to.Listry scored 1-10 in the second half and Scart. scored 2 points, leaving a final score Scartaglen 2-8 Listry 4-12.

Well done Listry on a great performance.Thank you to all the parents for supporting the players and thank you to Sean Walsh and Bernard Murphy for training the team and for your kind words to the team.

The boys and girls in green march on to Tarbert next Sunday for the final co.league game, best of luck to all.

Murt Broderick,Chairman of Listry Juvenile Board.
