U-16 East Kerry final 2016       On Friday evening 20th May 2016, Listry/Keel U-16s played Kenmare in the East Kerry div.5 final in Kenmare. On route to the final Listry/Keel had victories over Dr.Crokes B and Currow, lost to Kenmare and drew with Kilcummin. Our boys qualified to meet Kilcummin in the semi-final and after a great battle in Allman park Listry/Keel won by a point. The final was always going to be a hard assignment,Kenmare had beaten us by 6 points previously and had a good side. We didn’t start well in the final,Kenmare dominated in the air and turned possession into scores. We missed a lot of scoring opportunities in the first half and were lucky to be in the game at half time. The score at half time was Kenmare 1-7 Listry/Keel 1-2. The boys knew at half time that we hadn’t played well and were determined to have a right go in the second half. We started well in the second half and quickly had the gap closed to 4 points. Kenmare responded and scored 2 goals in quick succession and suddenly we had a mountain to climb. The boys never stopped battling and fought to the final whistle. The bounce of the ball didn’t go our way on the night and we just couldn’t get the goals we needed. We kicked 10 points in the second half, showed great heart and all the panel gave all they had to try and get a victory. The final score was Kenmare 3-13 Listry/Keel 1-12. Congratulations to Kenmare and hard luck to our boys.

We will take a break now, best of luck to all the boys in their house and state exams. We will regroup shortly and prepare for the Co.league. Thanks boys for a great attitude and behaviour in training and games so far this year.Thank you to parents and grandparents for supporting the boys. Better days to come,up our crowd!
