Co League Div 3.
Listry v Laune Rgs.
Sunday June 10th.
Listry won this local derby played in Listry on the scoreline Listry 3-11 to Laune Rgs 1-11. A win here was vital for both sides and Listry started with a goal inside the first minute when Cain Bradly sliced through the Rgs defence to rattle the net. Gary O Sullivan added another after two further minutes. Laune Rgs came more into the game but some poor shooting meant they struggled to close the gap. Points from Daire Cleary (3) and Paudge Murphy were cancelled out by points from Ronan Buckley (2) Derry Ahern and Anthony Sweeney to leave the half time score Listry 2-04 to Laune Rgs 0-04. The second half started as did the first with Danny Wren running through the visitors defence to slot the ball to the net for Listry’s third goal. Darragh O Shea and Joseph Clifford exchanged points before Laune Rgs were awarded a penalty which Daire Cleary converted to leave Listry leading 3-05 to 1-05 after 40 minutes. Rangers closed the gap with points from Daire Cleary and John O Shea but unanswered points for Listry from Joseph Clifford,Ant Sweeney, Cain Bradley,Derry Ahern, and Aron McCarthy pushed Listry well ahead. As Listry ran down their bench Rgs had 4 further points, all from the boot of Daire Cleary to a single reply from a Ronan Buckley point. Listry ran out easy winners to collect two important co league points which moves then up the table as Laune Rgs stay in the relegation zone. Over the years this division has always been close so no team is safe with 5 games to play.
