resized_20150904_185549-1 On Friday 4th September 2015 Listry/Keel U-14s played Glenbeigh/Glencar in the first round of the mid-Kerry Championship. The game was played in Keel on a beautiful evening. We were well beaten in the East Kerry final and even though training had gone well,Glenbeigh had beaten us twice in challenge games and we knew it would take a great team effort to win this one.
Listry/Keel started brightly and created a lot of scoring opportunities in the first half. A very entertaining first half saw us in front 1-11 to 1-6 at the break. Glenbeigh lost their full forward to injury just before the half time break. On the resumption Listry/Keel struck for a goal and suddenly the whole team were winning their individual battles and with great movement all over the pitch the  scores started flowing. Glenbeigh/Glencar battled bravely but never recovered from the loss of their full forward. All our team played very well and all the subs that were introduced also made a huge impression. The final score was Listry/Keel 4-23 Glenbeigh/Glencar 1-8.The game was excellently refereed by Martin Boyle from Milltown.  Tougher tests lie ahead, but, fair play to all the panel it was a great bounce back after the disappointment of the East Kerry final. Well done boys, we had 10 players on the score sheet and a very good defence.
