We were all very proud in Listry when Gary made the Kerry minor team for the first round of the championship against Tipperary and I’m sure Gary and all in Listry were gutted when he was substituted early in that game.Kerry lost that game by 7 points and faced the back door route where they recorded victories against Waterford,Limerick and Clare to get to the Munster final where again they faced Tipperary.Gary didn’t play any part in those 3 games and it must have been hard for him to keep going, but, here is the lesson for all young footballers,it’s a team game and when things are not going your way you just have to keep your head down, train hard and work your way back so when the opportunity comes again you’ll be ready to take it.On Sunday the 8th July 2012 with 10 minutes to go in the Munster Minor Final Gary was recalled to the Kerry team. The result didn’t go Kerry’s way but Gary played his part and a Listry man played in a Munster Final.Well done Gary I admire you and congratulate you and your family on this great achievement and please God we hope to see you later in the year in Croke Park.I don’t know how many supporters were there from Listry but I spotted Listry senior coach Sean Walsh,Peader and Micheal Keane(Barry injured) from Ballymalis,Sean O’Sullivan(u-14)from Faha,Tony,James and Tom O’Dowd from Faha,Jerome  coaching officer,Rosaleen and Brian Kennedy from Kilbonane,my own gang the Brodericks from Kilbonane and Gary’s family the O’Sullivans from Beaufort bridge.Thank you for the support.

Another great Listry man played his part as well for Kerry on Sunday.Well done to Peter Keane our U-16 trainer in Listry,a great clubman and Kerry minor selector.Peter is a good man on the sideline and as always was totally focused on the job Sunday even replacing the Maor Uisce on several occasions.Well done Peter, you’re doing a great job with the minors and I can’t wait for the next game. Up Listry and up the Kingdom!

Murt.
