Listry/Keel U-17s won the Div.3, 9 a side blitz in Currans on Saturday 2nd June 2018. This was the third evening of games for this group of players. The matches were 12 minutes a half and the goals were placed on the 20 metre line. The first evening on the 23rd May in Keel, the team lost to Beaufort and had a good victory over Annascaul/Lispole. Then it was Listry pitch on the 28th and the boys had draws against Churchill and St.Michaels/Foilmore. Finally it was the centre of excellence in Currans on Saturday . The boys played St.Pats in the semi final.In a competitive first half we were 2 points down at half-time. A tremendous second half by all the panel saw them score 6-1 to St.Pats 1-4 and a final score of 6-7 to 3-6 set up a final v Knock/Brosna/Duagh. Again in the final we were very competitive in the first half and were behind at half-time 7 points to 4. We dominated the second half but a late rally from K/B/D saw the final score Keel/Listry 2-6 K/B/D 0-12. A draw and extra time. A tremendous work rate, great rotation of players and team work saw the boys outscore K/B/D 1-5 to a point in extra time. Final score Listry/Keel 3-11 K/B/D 0-13 .A super victory. This was a great competition for the boys. They played 6 games, lost 1, drew 2 and won 3. The boys benefited from high intensity games and all the panel contributed to a great success.The team was managed by Colman O Shea and Adrian Brennan from Listry and Donal Murphy and Ian Foley from Keel.
An excellent captain on the day,Ronan Buchanan accepted the Co.Div.3 U-17 9 a-side plate for 2018. All the boys wish a speedy recovery to Ruairi Murphy who suffered a shoulder injury in the final.
