Annascaul preserved their undefeated record in Div 3 of the county league with a draw against home side Listry on Sunday last on the score Listry 2-12 to Annascaul 2-12. The visitors got of to a great start in the first minute when they scored a goal after Cathal Ferriter ran through the Listry defence to crash home the opening score. Anthony Sweeney put Listry on the scoreboard with a point on 5 minutes which Jason Hickson cancelled out. Listry with a point from Garry O Sullivan followed by a goal from Joe Clifford to put them ahead. Garry O Sullivan then ran through the Annascaul defence but saw his shot for goal go agonisingly wide. Anthony Sweeney then pushed Listry further ahead with a point which was followed by two Jason Hickson points and a point from Aidan Crean put Annascaul back in front. Points from Joe Clifford (2) and Derry Ahern restored Listry’s lead before half time as they entered the break Listry 1-6 Annascaul 1-4.
The second half was a close affair all through as the sides were level three times before the end. After a Aidan Crean point opened the scoring for the visitors Listry hit back with their second goal through Ronan Buckley. Two further Aidan Crean points and an Eamon Hickson point closed the gap for the visitors. Arron McCarthy and Derry Ahern added points for Listry before three unanswered point from Cathal Ferriter, Aidan Crean and Jason Hickson saw the sides level entering the final ten minutes. A Danny Wren point put Listry ahead before Annascaul’s second goal from Aidan Crean. Annascaul were now in the driving seat but Listry refused to lie down and points from Ant Kennedy and Garry O Sullivan had them level again as the game entered added time. A point from Byran Kennedy put Annascaul back in front but once again Listry through an Anthony Sweeney pointed free put the sides level. After seven minutes of added time referee Tom Moriarty blew for full time and the draw was probably a fair result because both sides could have won.
