Final score Listry 3-8 Glenflesk 2-12.
Glenflesk won this Division 2 first round game played in Listry on Sunday
with a last minute penalty. Listry had a chance to gain a draw during the
added time but could not find the score to level matters. Glenflesk were
first to register with a point from Paudie Healy. Glenflesk playing with a
strong wind were then rocked when Paul O Donoghue blasted to the net for a
Listry goal. Glenflesk then took over or rather Darragh Roche did as he
scored 1-4 inside 5 minutes to push Glenflesk ahead 1-5 to Listry’s goal
after 15 minutes. The remainder of the half was pretty even but Listry were
to score 3 points from Derry Ahern, Joseph and Damien Clifford Glenflesk who
had 2 Jeff O Donnoghue points to leave the half time score Listry 1-3
Glenflesk 1-8. Now playing with the wind in the second half Listry quickly got into the game
and after a Derry Ahern point Anthony Kennedy hit the Glenflesk net to
leave the minimum between the sides after 39 minutes. Glenflesk then got
their first score of the second half, a Jeff O Donoghue point. John Foley
then put Listry in front for the first time with Listry’s third goal.
Glenflesk with 3 Darragh Roche points to Listry with points from Anthony
Kennedy and Damian Clifford had Listry leading by a point when that penalty
arrived and try as they could Listry were only able to manage 1 point as
Glenflesk ran out winners on the score Glenflesk 2-12 Listry 3-8.
This was a game that no team deserved to lose but Glenflesk will be happy with the 2 points
as Listry will improve as players who are injured return over the next few weeks.
