On Friday 22nd June 2018, Listry junior footballers welcomed Dr. Crokes to Allman park. A technicality delayed the game . Once referee ,John O Neill from Spa gaa club got clarity, the game finally got underway as a 13 a side game. Listry started brightly with Anthony Sweeney kicking 2 points from play. Mid-fielder Cain Bradley kicked a nice point and Jonathon Sparling followed with another. Crokes tried hard to penetrate our defence and our full backs Mike Quirke and Cian O Donoghue were mopping up everything. Crokes kicked a few points and Listry responded magnificently with a great goal from centre back Brian Kennedy.
The hard working Seán O Sullivan followed with another goal and our confidence was growing. Half back Paudie Horgan was disciplined in the tackle and made timely interceptions mid way through the first  half.  Left half back Roman Gallagher was available for every kick out and was allways willing to drive forward at every opportunity. Darragh O Shea was making his presence felt in the half forward line and kicked a great point from play. Shortly afterwards Darragh was unlucky not to score a goal and from the clearance Dr. Crokes almost got a goal at the other end.Colm Counihan was playing brilliantly in goal and good defending by Listry forced Dr. Crokes to kick points when the goal was the preferred score. Seán O Sullivan with his beautiful gliding style kicked 2 points on the trot. Jonathon Sparling , Anthony Sweeney and Paul O Donoghue were handling a lot of ball and were always strong in possession. Jonathon Sparling converted a free and Sean O Sullivan finished the half with a neat point from an acute angle.  Stephen Brosnan had an outstanding first half in mid-field and his appetite for hard work was matched by his mid field partner Cain Bradley. The half-time score was Listry 2-9 to 0-7 .
Dr.Crokes started the second half brightly and converted a free to narrow the gap. Listry were focused and after good teamwork Seán O Sullivan cut through the Crokes defence and set up a goal that was well taken by Jonathan Sparling. Points followed  from Anthony Sweeney 2,Darragh O Shea 2,Jonathan Sparling 1.Crokes never gave up and tried hard for a goal to bring them into the game. However, Colm was blocking everything and all our defender’s, Mike Quirke, Brian Kennedy, Cian O Donoghue,Roman Gallagher and Paudie Horgan were heroic in the second half. Mike Sullivan was introduced in the defence in the final quarter and can be pleased with his performance. Jonathon O Connor   came on corner forward and for the second week showed great positional awareness and was unlucky not to score 2 goals. Crokes battled to the very end and kicked 3 further points in the second half. Mike Dwyer was introduced late in the game and kicked the final point after a good pass from young Seán O Sullivan.  On an evening when all the panel were outstanding,Stephen Brosnan had a tremendous game and captain Paul O’Donoghue was the master of the breaking ball .The final score was Listry 3-15 Dr.Crokes 0-11 . The game was excellently refereed by John O Neil from Spa gaa club.Thank you to Brian Kennedy and Roman Gallagher who played the game with leg injuries.
